Fuente del Conde Trail.

The "Fuente del Conde Trail," also known as the "Magán Path," with a circular route of about 5.5 kilometers, showcases an area of high natural value: the Sierra de Campo Agro.

Nature and hiking enthusiasts can now enjoy an improved route of the "Fuente del Conde Trail" or "Magán Path," which is marked thanks to the intervention of the Iznájar City Council (Cordoba) with its own funds. This circular route, covering approximately 5.5 km, immerses hikers in an area of rich natural value such as the Sierra de Campo Agro.

Its route is approved by the Andalusian Mountaineering Federation and starts in the village of Fuente del Conde in Iznájar. From this point, most of the route goes through a concrete and dirt path, making it a family-friendly excursion.

Our steps lead us through what is well-known in this region as the sea of olive trees, an exceptional landscape that can only be seen in parts of Andalusia. It later transforms into the liquid gold that wins numerous awards and brings much joy to Spanish gastronomy. This spectacle blends with the native flora typical of the Mediterranean forest.

The highlight of this route is the ascent to the Sierra de Campo Agro (929m). Its hills mark the boundary line of three provinces: Granada (Loja), Malaga (Villanueva de Tapia), and Cordoba (Iznájar). In the case of the latter, the views of the municipality are accompanied by unforgettable panoramas of the Iznájar Reservoir, also known as the Lake of Andalusia, as it is one of the largest in all of Andalusia. Additionally, the Pico de la Tiñosa, the highest point in the province of Cordoba, can also be seen from here.

In this environment, crowning the village of Fuente del Conde (Iznájar), is the Hermitage of Cruz de Magán, featuring elements of Andalusian popular architecture. Inside, there is a small cross that is lowered in procession every May 3 to the village, coinciding with the major festivities in honor of the Holy Cross.

This natural viewpoint of the Subbética Cordobesa marks the endpoint from which the return journey begins to the starting point of the trail, the village of Fuente del Conde, popularly known as "La Alcuilla."

The Tourism and Sports departments of the Iznájar City Council appreciate the collaboration of the local community in launching this historic trail, adding to the map of hiking routes that Iznájar has prepared for active and nature-loving tourists. It is another complement to the tourist and sports offering already provided by the municipality for the more adventurous travelers.
